this means the data file is already open by another copy of 4D,
probably. ?restart the computer, check Services, etc..

I've restored a (Windows, v13.5) database from backup, and now when I

the restored database with 4D Server, I get the message, "You cannot
open
this database because the data file (or one of its segments) is
locked".
This does not appear to be a file lock on the data file, because I can
move the data file around (to different folders); what could this
message
mean, and how can I clear the problem so I can open the data file?

Bob,
If this is on a Windows system, verify that the files are not set at
"Read
Only".

Hi Everyone,

mean,
and how can I clear the problem so I can open the data file?
Many thanks,

Itís probably OS-level file permissions, especially if youíre
working
in an environment that is highly managed by the IT department.
Make sure that all of the 4D files are readable and writable by the
user ìEveryoneî.
